The only real thing that Marketing and Magicians have in common are the fact that both these words begin with the same letter!
Many times I have said to my customers that Marketing is not a magic wand. It isn’t a quick fix and it doesn’t happen to great effect overnight.
One email campaign or one advert or attending just one networking event is unlikely to set you up for the year in terms of sales and leads. It could, but there are better ways to go about marketing in a less random way.
The key to implementing Marketing successfully into your business is through consistency. If you are trying to run a business and handle your own Marketing then it is easy to put newsletter writing to the bottom of the list or review your Google analytics tomorrow or not go to that event as you are “too busy”. If this is you then it is likely that the Marketing you implement will be hit and miss and done on an ad hoc basis and probably without much thought and definately no follow up.
The key is to plan, lay it out, budget properly, be organised and therefore be consistent. As consumers, we need a few times to see/hear/read a Marketing message from a business trying to sell to us, so ensuring your Marketing covers all the bases over time will dramatically enhance the chances of the campaign succeeding.
One quote I read recently said something like a goal without a plan is just a wish! This is very true for business and it is where Marketing fits in, to make your goals happen. If you want your business to grow and succeed then this will need planning, hard work and a constant effort.
