Put off buying data for your business database? Don’t be and here is why …

What is your business database like? Is it empty? Inaccurate? Non existent?  Could you benefit from an injection of new data?

Customers won’t know you are out there unless you tell them! However, the answer is not to tell everyone, but breakdown or segment “everyone” into smaller categories. This will firstly help you manage your marketing plus it will focus the mind so you make contact with the target group first.  For example, you may be targeting ladies looking for beauty treatments, but break this down into those with the most disposable income first.  This might be 35 to 50 years.  Then you can target men, then younger ladies, then older ladies.  Same principle applies when segmenting business types rather than consumers as in this example.

Once you know who you are targeting and where they are geographically, you will need to find a reputable mailing list broker. Pinpoint has used Cardwell Marketing before.  You can either speak to a broker directly or ask your marketing agency to help you as you may need help narrowing down your target audience and list criteria.  Tell them the data you want and they will create a count and quote for you.

Once you have this data, how will you use it?  A direct mail letter? A telemarketing campaign? Or an email campaign?  If you are using email, many third party email marketing software companies like Mail Chimp and iContact won’t allow you to upload purchased data.  Brokers, like Cardwell, have a solution.  They can send the email out on your behalf (and even design it for you if you wish) and then they will give you a report of the opens, clicks etc and all the details so you can follow up with them yourself! Once you have then nurtured these leads and gained their permission, you can add them to your own database. Ask me to see a sample of such a report.
