What can’t you afford not to afford?

Following on from last week’s blog, are you asking the right question, (if you missed it click here), I would like to continue with this theme and ask the question “can you afford not to do market research?”

So, what do I mean by this?  Small businesses say they cannot afford to invest in market research as the mere idea conjures up images of expense and a lot of time spent on it.  I say that you cannot afford not to do it because

  • understanding your customer is crucial and will determine your future marketing activities and business success
  • developing your business and its offering is nearly always driven by your customer/s
  • being savvy about your market is key and really helps you stay ahead of your competition
  • customers are also becoming more savvy, so you need to keep up with them

So, now you are convinced about doing market research, you need to think as to whether to do this yourself or whether to outsource to a market research expert.  There are many affordable routes and options for you.

To help you make your decision, think about

  • your budget
  • your timelines
  • your workload and capacity
  • your available resource
  • agency vs consultant
  • specialist vs generalist

If you have any questions or if you need any recommendations, please just ask …
