Top 5 skills in demand!

A recent survey carried out by the FSB asked small business owners what were the skills they most wanted in order to grow in 2011.

The top 5 were:

  1. Marketing and PR
  2. IT
  3. Financial
  4. Planning
  5. Legal and regulatory

How does this relate to you?  Are these skills that you need for your business?

The survey went on to say that business owners spent most on improving their IT skills whereas for staff, they invested in marketing skills.  What are you investing in?
If you are the business owner, are you responsible for your own marketing or do you outsource this?  Whether you are looking to recruit or contract a marketer, make sure you get the right person for you by reading my past blog here.

The survey concluded that overall businesses were spending less on training this year than in 2010, which is understandable in the recession.  Does this ring true for you?

So how are you set for marketing your business through to the end of 2011?
Will you be juggling your marketing as well as managing your business?  (read more in another of my blogs here).

Not sure what to do next?
Make a list of pros and cons of outsourcing versus recruiting then make an informed decision.
Once you know who will be doing your marketing, you need to work on setting a marketing budget to ensure you get a return on your investment.

Still need help in making a decision about which marketing route to take?  Please call or email me and I will be able to guide you through it.

Have a good week …
