Just like comedians, us marketers must keeping coming up with new material to keep the audiences interested and up to date. I am not talking jokes or comedy here of course, but refreshing things are repeating yuor message are the way to go.
In marketing, there are two main ways to promote your message, drip or scattergun. Drip refers to drip feeding, so a constant and regular outpour of a message to your target audience. This a slopw but sure message and one used for a more longer term approach.
The scattergun approach is more quick for a short term period. Marketers blast their audiences with their messaging in a quick fire way for a more short term approach.
There is no right or wrong way to feed your message to your leads and customers. The method you choose will depend on who you are trying to talk to, your budget and your marketing objectives. Alternatively, you could try both methods and see what works best for you, your audience and your business.
Back to the comedian angle. Coming up with new ways to get across the same message is the key to successful marketing. Marketing is about being constant and continuous. If you repeat your message enough times, the audience/s will start to resonate with you and what you are saying and they will then be more inclined to buy from you in the future.
So, now you are ready to put together some fresh material, based on your core objectives and business branding, but what do you need to include to make sure your marketing makes an impact?
Here are some tips to include in your new material whether you are creating a postcard, webpage, flyer, leaflet, brochure or a blog. Include the following messaging:
a call to action (what do you want the customer to do?)
logo and branding
customer testimonial or case study
photo or image
benefits not just features
WIIFM (what’s in it for me)
talk TO the customer, not AT them
Finally, think big with your marketing. Just because you are a small business, you do not need to think or act small. Think London Palladium not the British Legion.
