Your email marketing questions answered!

I get asked the same questions day in day out, so I thought I would share them with you all today.

What is the main factor to achieving a successful email campaign?  be relevant and personalise.  Don’t just write and send to the masses without thought or accuracy or care.  Your email needs to attract attention and create a desire within the customer to act.  They will only do this if it’s relevant and of interest and benefit.

How can I get past spam filters?  make sure your emails actually get through.  one tip is to remove bounces and unsubscribes promptly.  Also ask recipients to add your send email address to their address book.

Why should I send a text version too?  around 5% cannot open an html based email.

What is a hard or soft bounce?  hard is a permanent error whereas a soft is a temporary bounce like an out of office?

What is a good click through rate?  around 15 to 20% is the industry average, but every campaign is different.
